starting at the front. Lewis Hamilton came around to take the fastest time in the session. It was the only qualifying session that he had won all day, but it was the most important. It is Hamilton's third pole position in a row. Hamilton’s teammate Nico Rosberg managed to qualify fourth.

It had appeared that Sebastian Vettel would score the pole. He was leading the session and had been fast all day. It did not appear that anyone would be able to beat him, but Hamilton came around at the very last moment to beat him by 0.038 seconds.

are also quite quick this weekend. Romain Grosjean out qualified his teammate Kimi Raikkonen by 0.256 seconds, but that was enough to separate the two of them by three places with Raikkonen in sixth.

also made it into the Q3 session. Fernando Alonso managed fifth, and Felipe Massa qualified seventh. They will likely be big challengers in the top ten for the race tomorrow.

in the top ten.

It will be interesting to see where Mark Webber actually starts tomorrow. He did not put in a time in the Q3 session because his KERS system stopped working. Vettel also said during the post-qualifying interview that Webber's gearbox was slow on upshifts. It may mean the team will have to change it before the race, which would cost him five spots on the grid.

The other big surprise during qualifying was that Paul di Resta did not make it out of the first session. He said that the grip just disappeared from the car during the latter portion of the session, and there was little he could do about it.
