Kia revealed the first official images of the
fourth-generation Sportage, a model that will be officially presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The new Kia Sportage receives a major transformation in terms of design, especially at the front, but also on the sides and rear. The major change comes in the front where the headlights are no longer integrated into the grille, as it happened with the
previous generation, and have moved up next to the bonnet. Thus the Sportage adopts the new brand image of Kia with the isolated grlle, which has been used in the latest range of models.
The Sportage also receives a larger lower grille with a silver protection at the lower end. The fog lamps now have a larger cluster and complete the front design.
Despite maintaining a traditional SUV image, the new Sportage has a slightly more raked profile. In addition to the more pronounced wheel arches, the new generation also receives a sharp line that runs across the side doors.
According to Kia, the new Sportage rear design was based on the 2013
Provo concept. The vehicle has a strong horizontal line across the trunk which links the two rear lighting clusters. The reverse lights are placed on the rear bumpers in a separate cluster.
The engines that will be available with the new Kia Sportage will be announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show., however the model will feature a new four-cylinder engine turbo petrol. In addition, engines available on the Hyundai Tucson should carry over into the new SUV from Kia.
