with money going to Habitat for Humanity Detroit to build homes in the Morningside Commons neighborhood on the eastern side of Detroit. The car will be auctioned during the Woodward Dream Cruise along Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

The car is Regal Turquoise with a 245hp V8 and will be displayed during the Woodward Dream Cruise. Akerson had the car restored, and it has new body panels, instrument panel and upholstery. The 58 model is when the Corvette moved to dual front headlights. It was also the first Corvette to have seat belts. Chevrolet built 9,168 Corvettes in 1958, but 510 were Regal Turquoise.

This is the second time that Akerson has donated to Habitat for Humanity in Detroit. In February, Akerson donated $1 million that will help build 500 homes in Morningside Commons.

“The 1958 Corvette is a great example of American passion and ingenuity, and my hope is that the auction will help bring attention and resources to Habitat’s efforts to revitalize a historic Detroit neighborhood. I love this Corvette, and if putting it on the block can help rebuild the heart and soul of a neighborhood, I am all for it," said Akerson.
