It built the engine to have good throttle response across the entire rev range.

Vsport this fall, and it is claiming that the new engine has no turbo lag thanks to its design. In both cars it produces 420hp and 430lb-ft of torque and is offered only with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Peak torque comes on at 1,900rpm and remains until 5,600rpm.

For the twin-turbo V6, Cadillac uses two smaller, faster-spooling turbos, throttle bodies mounted on top of the engine and shorter distances for air to enter the engine. The engine's air-to-water intercooler has only 1psi (0.07 bar) of restriction as full power. GMGMGMUnited States of America, 1998 > present8 models

also worked to make the distance from the turbo to the intercooler as short as possible.

“By creating a very short path from the turbos to the throttle body, the compressors are able to draw air directly from the inlet box and send pressurized air through the intercooler immediately,” said Richard Bartlett, Cadillac assistant chief engineer for the 3.6L twin-turbo engine.

The top of the engine has a single throttle body located on top of the engine that controls the air sent to the turbos, which GM says gives it better throttle response.
