10th Generation Chevy Impala Brings New Style and Hybrid Option

10th Generation Chevy Impala Brings New Style and Hybrid Option

The Chevrolet Impala has been going now for 10 generations in the US. The newest generation will debut in the US in early 2013 with a choice of three engines, including a hybrid, and all new styling.

The new Impala has larger fenders, standard 18in wheels and optional HID headlights with LED running lights on the LTZ trim. Chevrolet says that the design was meant to be completely modern and not call back to previous Impala models. The line along the rear fender is meant to look like the Impala's emblem.

The interior features a 4.2in screen in the center of the instrument cluster; while there is also an available 8in touch screen in the center stack. Ultraseude and perforated leather are available as interior materials.

To give the Impala a more luxurious ride, Chevrolet has added sound deadening and sound absorbing material and active noise cancellation comes on the four-cylinder models.

When it comes to market, the 2013 Impala will be available with adaptive cruise control. active braking, lane departure warning and side blind spot alert.

The Impala will be available with three engines. The 2.4l, four-cylinder engine with the eAssist hybrid system is rated at 182hp, and Chevrolet says that it will probably use 35mpg on the highway.  The 2.5l, four-cylinder has 195hp, and the 3.6l V6 will be the largest engine with 303hp. All of the engines have a six-speed automatic transmission.

Chevrolet has also redesigned the logo for the Impala. The leaping Impala is flatter and more oval than the previous one, and it will be in bright chrome on the car.

Chevrolet says that it will offer the Impala in three trim levels: LS, LT and LTZ. It has not announced differences among the trims yet other than the HID headlights and LED running lights on the LTZ trim. It will announce prices for all of the models closer to when the Impala is on sale.
