Vauxhall is a subsidiary of General Motors. Founded in 1857 as manufacturer of pumps and marine engines, it was only in 1903 that the company built its first car, the 5HP. In 1925, GM bought Vauxhall and since the 1970s, Vauxhall’s cars are based on Opel models. Today, Vauxhall is a part of the GM Europe alliance.
