Super Aguri is the sixth confirmed team for the 2014 Formula E season

Formula E continues to add to its slate of teams for its 2014 season. Former F1 team Super Aguri has signed up as the sixth official Formula E team. Its official name will be Super Aguri Formula E.

“Today is a new chapter for the Super Aguri name and I’m proud that our team will represent Japan in the inaugural Formula E series,” said Suzuki Aguri, Founder and Executive Chairman of Super Aguri Formula E. “Zero emissions racing is a progressive concept for the motorsport industry, and after more than 40 years as both a driver and team owner, I see Formula E as a great stride towards the future.”

Super Aguri has not announced its driver lineup yet.

Formula E wants to sign 10 teams to series for 2014 and has already confirmed five other teams including: Andretti Autosport, Dragon Racing, Drayson Racing, China Racing, and E.Dams.

Super Aguri is best known for its competition in Formula 1 from 2006 to 2008. It has also raced cars in both classes of the Super GT series in Japan since 1998. Former Formula 1 driver Suzuki Aguri founded the team.
