Launched in 1990 at the Paris Motor Show, the Renault Clio is a supermini car produced by the French automobile manufacturer Renault. Currently in its third generation, the Clio is a very successful model and is consistently one of Europe's top-selling cars since its launch.

The Clio can also receive a great part of credit for restoring Renault's reputation and stature, after the difficult times during the decade of 80. The Renault Clio is also the only car to have received twice (1991 and 2006) the European Car of the Year award, proof of its success and longevity.

Since its launch back in 1990, the Renault Clio has already been sold in 3-door hatchback, 5-door hatchback, sedan and estate body variants.

The Clio is also known by different names in some markets. For example in Japan it is known as Lutecia. The four-door sedan was specially developed for some markets and is sold under names Renault Clio Classic, Renault Clio Symbol, Renault Symbol, Renault Clio Sedan, Renault Clio Tricorps, and Renault Thalia.
