PhoeniX (Sweden, 2011)

The PhoeniX concept represents the reborn of a brand and its new look at the future. Based on the next Saab 9-3 model, the concept introduces the ‘aeromotional’ design. This is the same visual suggestion of the aerodynamic design principles and passion for innovation that became the inspiration for the creators of Saab’s first car, the iconic Ursaab.

The PhoeniX is a hybrid vehicle that combines an efficient, 1.6-liter turbo engine with electric rear wheel drive technology. The compact, all-aluminum gasoline engine has a power output of 200 hp and is fitted with variable valve timing and lift control, as well as start/stop functionality, minimal parasitic losses and a fuel cut-off function. It also features a stainless steel tank that is lighter and less expensive than a conventional plastic design.
