The W. A. Paterson Company was founded by William A. Paterson in Flint, Michigan, in 1869 to build carriages but soon abandoned this business and turned to building automobiles. By 1910 the transition was complete. Patersons were lightweight cars that became very popular in all US states. However, the company did not survive the death of its founder, in1921, coupled with the post-WWI depression, despite the efforts of his heir, W. C. Paterson to stay in business. In 1923 the company was sold to Dallas Winslow, Dodge Dealer in Flint, but the business was never revived and the Company’s demise occurred in 1924.
