Paramount Cars Company was founded by W. Hudson and S. Underwood at Swadlincote, Derbyshire  in 1950. Built in 2 and 4 seat versions, the Paramount had hand worked aluminium panels over a wood frame body mounted on a chassis with reinforced tubular side members and box section cross members. Despite being well built and nicely equipped, the Paramount did not have a very good performance. In 1953 The Company was bought by Camden Motors and the production was transferred to Leighton Buzzard. Engine and chassis changes introduced by Camden Motors rendered the Paramount uncompetitive and the make was discontinued in 1956.
