VW unveils all-new Tiguan SUV

Roomier and more efficient, the new model will be unveiled in Frankfurt

at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show which starts tomorrow, September 15, with two days dedicated to the press. The new model is according to the German brand roomier and in some cases up to 25% more efficient than its predecessor.
Compared to the previous generation, the new Tiguan is 60mm longer, 30mm wider and 33mm lower. With a wheelbase of 2681mm, 77mm longer, Volkswagen was able to increase the space inside with new folding seats. The load capacity also increased by 145 liters to a total of 615 liters.
The engine range will consist of eight engines, four petrol and four diesel with outputs ranging from 115 to 240hp. Although they are more powerful, Volkswagen states that it managed to improve its efficiency up to 25% compared to the previous generation. The base versions receive front-wheel drive while the more powerful ones will feature the all-wheel drive system 4MOTION with four driving modes. The engines will be combined with a manual six-speed gearbox or the optional dual clutch of six and seven-speed.
Volkswagen will also unveil the Tiguan GTETiguan GTEVolkswagen Tiguan GTEGermany, 2015 > 2015 concept, a preview for a possible hybrid version of the model. The hybrid powertrain combines a 1.4 liters petrol engine with 157hp and an electric motor, in a combined output of 218hp. According to the German brandthe  vehicle achieves an average consumption of 1.9l/100km, with respective CO2 emissions of 49g/km. The concept also has a solar cell on the roof that, under ideal conditions and depending on the region, can give the vehicle a range up to 1000km.
