VW Group expects to break the 7 million sales mark

VW Group expects to break the 7 million sales mark

In the first eleven months of 2010 the Volkswagen Group has already exceeded the number of deliveries from the whole year of 2009 and expects to reach the 7 million mark until the end of the year.

With a growth of 12.7 percent, comparing to the same period of 2009, Volkswagen has delivered a total of 6.59 million vehicles. During the month of November the German Group delivered 617,100 vehicles, representing a growth of 16.2 percent.

According to Group Board Member for Sales Christian Klingler, “The Volkswagen Group is benefiting disproportionately from the upturn on most major automobile markets. We anticipate a new delivery record of more than seven million vehicles for the full year.”

China, the Asia/Pacific region and the USA are the main responsible markets for the Group’s significant rise in deliveries. For example in China, between January and November, 1.82 million vehicles from the Group have been sold on the biggest automotive market in the world, growing 37.8 percent compared to the same period of 2009. In the Asia/Pacific region sales grew 38.6 percent and in the USA sales have gone up by 21.3 percent, with 325,600 units already having been sold.

In Western Europe (excluding Germany) sales have risen by 12.5 percent, with 1,71 million units being delivered. In Central and Eastern Europe, the Group deliveries fixed at 382,900, representing a growth of 9.8 percent. In Russia sales have gone up by 36.3 percent.

In Germany the Volkswagen Group registered a fall of 19 percent, to 950.000 deliveries. Still the Group managed to expand its share of market because of the overall contraction of the market.
