V12 Vantage on its way to North America

Aston Martin has revealed that the V12 Vantage will be sold in the North American market after “unprecedented customer demand”. The brand’s most potent production sports car will be available in that market later this year.

Based on the V8 Vantage, the V12 Vantage is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 engine that produces 517 PS and 570 Nm of torque, reaching a top speed of 305 km/h and accelerates up to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

Since its launch in 2009 the V12 Vantage has been very well received by the media and enthusiasts and became a huge sales success for the British brand.

About the V12 Vantage Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez said: “This is the ultimate performance interpretation of the Vantage range, combining our most agile model with our most powerful engine. It represents the definitive Aston Martin driving experience; providing spectacular performance to ensure a dynamically thrilling drive in a highly exclusive package.”

Aston Martin was expecting small demand for the V12 in the North American market so it wasn’t homologated for that region. After receiving “unprecedented demand” the brand quickly put in action an engineering study to understand its potential feasibility. Six months later a series of engineering refinements have been introduced to satisfy the specific requirements of the North American market.

Thanks to the modular nature of the VH architecture, Aston Martin engineers were able to review the virtual and physical testing data for all modern era Aston Martins. After the study a detailed Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis resulted in the development of an alternative load transfer path, which incorporates an innovative version of the structure at the front of the car, satisfying North American requirements.

Aston Martin Chief Commercial Officer, Michael van der Sande commented: “We are very pleased to be able to respond to customer demand and launch this car in North America – still our biggest market globally.

“This illustrates one of Aston Martin’s key strengths – the ability to act quickly and turn concepts and ideas into reality, giving our customers what they want.”

On the day of its launch in North America the V12 will also be available in the limited Carbon Black special edition.

The V12 Vantage is available to order now and deliveries to North America are expected to commence during quarter four 2010 with prices to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
