While sales overall were down, some models still performed well. Toyota and Lexus’ hybrid models had their sales increase by 67.5% to 75,407 cars in the first six months of the year. The Yaris Hybrid alone sold 5,798 cars in June.

“Our sales performance during the second quarter of 2013 is very much in line with our plans. We kept our market share at a steady 4.5% during the first six months of the year even as automotive sales in Europe continue to lose steam,” said Daniele Schillaci, Toyota Europe head of sales.
