Successful year for Jaguar Land Rover

Successful year for Jaguar Land Rover

With more than eighty international awards handed to its models during 2010, Jaguar Land Rover is celebrating a very successful year for the brand.

Being almost equally shared by both brands, the most awarded model was Land Rover’s Discovery 4 that received 28 global awards, raising its total to 144 since the model’s launch in 2004.

"The Discovery 4 offers an exceptional breadth of capability. It is now one of the most highly-decorated vehicles ever and we are thrilled that it continues to receive such great recognition across the industry," commented Land Rover's Global Brand Director John Edwards.

The Range Rover also had a very successful year as the model was voted the 'Car of the Decade' by readers of The Range Rover Sport was voted 'Best 4x4' by Auto Bild (Germany) and the Freelander 2 was voted 'Best Compact SUV' at the Auto Express Car of the Year Awards.

Jaguar’s most successful model in 2010 was the XJ. Having been launched earlier this year the XJ received more than 20 awards including 'Best Luxury Car' from China's Auto News, 'Annual Limousine King’ from Quattroroute (Italy), 'Luxury Car of the Year' from Top Gear (UK), Automobile Magazine's '2011 Design of the Year' and 'Best Executive Sedan' at the Bloomberg Awards (US).

Awards to Jaguar also came from the C-X75 concept car. The study vehicle stole the show at the Paris Motor Show and caught the eye of the auto industry elite, being named 'car of the show'.

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director at Jaguar said: "Jaguar embarked on reinvigorating the brand in 2006 and we are delighted that our three all-new Jaguars have been so well received across the world in that time. We have been delighted with the tremendous response from the media to the new XJ, winning more than 20 international awards this year."

But the awards didn’t always come from motoring press in 2010. For example, Jaguar was named by JD Power Associates in the U.S. as the leader in customer satisfaction achieving the highest score in their annual Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) StudySM. Jaguar was also the highest ranked luxury brand.

In Britain’s biggest car buying guide What Car? Jaguar was also named as a leading manufacturer in its owner satisfaction survey. By finishing top on the best executive car category and second overall in JD Power (UK survey), the XF helped Jaguar to secure third place in the survey, out of 27 manufacturers.

With annual sales until November rising 20.7% collectively and with earnings for the second quarter of the financial year at £238 million (after tax), the awards are only the confirmation of a very successful 2010 for Jaguar Land Rover.
