Red Bull Sets New Record for Fastest Pitstop in Malaysia

Takes the record from McLaren last season

Red Bull holds the new pitstop record in F1 at 2.05 seconds

In addition to taking the top two steps on the podium in Malaysia amid some controversey, Red BullRB9Red Bull RB9Austria, 2013 > 201310 photos
had another success at Sepang. It broke the F1 record for fastest pit stop, then broke it again and again. During the Malaysian Grand Prix, Red Bull broke the previous record five times and beat its record twice.

held the previous pit stop record when Jenson Button had a 2.31 second stop at last year's German Grand Prix. On Sebastian Vettel's first stop in Malaysia on lap 5, it was 2.13 seconds. Webber also had a 2.13 second stop on lap 7. Then, the pit crew shattered the old record on Webber's lap 19 stop with a 2.05-second pit stop.

Later in the race, the Red Bull pit crew broke the previous record two more times with a 2.21-second stop from Webber on lap 31 and a 2.26-second stop from Webber on lap 43.

Red Bull calculates the time based on how long the car sits stationary in the pits.

With the record now standing at 2.05 seconds, the question is now whether a pit crew could do a less than 2 second pit stop.

You can watch the record-breaking stop here, but do not blink or you will miss it.
