Red Bull is a Finalist to be Promoter for World Rally Championship

Citroën is already sponsored by Red Bull

The World Rally Championship has had a very rough year since the owner of its promoting company North One Sport was arrested for fraud just before the first rally of the year. That arrest caused the WRC to terminate its contract and has left it searching for a promoter. Now it has been revealed that Red Bull Media House is one of the three finalists to be the promoter of the WRC next year. The other two finalists are a Eurosport and a South African group.

The FIA, which organizes the WRC, began looking for a new promoter in February, but it just announced the finalists during last weekend's Rally Finland. Not even the manufacturers or teams knew who had bid to be the promoter.

"When they [Red Bull] do something, they do it properly and they don't just want to make a good name with the promotion. If they choose to invest in the World Rally Championship then it's because they want to make a proper job, otherwise they would not even attempt to do it," said CitroënDS3 WRCDS DS3 WRCFrance, 2010 > present10 photos
