has already received over 25,000 orders across Europe even though the compact SUV does not go on sale until the end of 2012. Orders for the Mokka opened in June.

“Now that we have the Mokka, a new chapter in our product offensive has begun. Our successful order intake shows that the Mokka is spot on. Its technologies, dynamic and bold design appeals to the taste of our customers”, said Opel head of sales and marketing Alfred E. Rieck.

The Mokka is a five-passenger compact SUV that seats five. It comes standard with stability control, traction control, hill start assist and hill descent assist. Base cars will be front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive will be optional. The all-wheel drive system is purely front-wheel drive most of the time until the wheels start to slip, and then it can send up to 50% of the power to the rear. Opel says that this is to increase fuel economy.

The Mokka will be offered with three engines and all will be available with stop/start. They are a 115hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder, a 140hp 1.4-liter four-cylinder and a 130hp 1.7-liter diesel. A six-speed automatic will be available on the 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter engines.

After the Mokka is introduced at the end of the year, it will be joined by the lower price Chevrolet TraxTrax Gen.1Chevrolet Trax Gen.1United States of America, 2012 > present11 versions
