The second generation is certainly not an ugly car but lost the way of the suave simplicity of the first generation. Audi says that the third generation car will go back to the first generation's simplicity when it goes on sale in late 2014.

In terms of performance, Audi is aiming to make the next TT a more dynamic driving vehicle by cutting weight and using more aluminum. Both because of history and the platform, the TT will remain either front-wheel or all-wheel drive depending on specification. The engine options will include the new 2.0-liter TSI engine from the GTI with 230hp, a 2.0-liter diesel and a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder for the next TT RS that will come later.
