The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is a land of weird cars. Its Unlimited class is one of the last places where people can build cars with as much power in whatever layout that they wish, and as long as it is safe, it is open to set a time up the mountain. Last year, one of the weirder cars was the Lovefab NSXHonda NSXJapan, 1990 > present1 photo

The Michigan-based tuner built a twin-turbo NSX with 850hp to race up Pikes Peak and finished second because two of the other cars in the class were unable to finish. This year, the car has an even more radical body and drops the Honda engine in favor of a twin-turbo 5.7-liter ChevroletChevroletUnited States of America, 1911 > present82 models

V8.
Owner and builder Cody Loveland said that the previous NSX engine was powerful at sea-level but struggled at Pike's Peak. Therefore, it switches to the twin-turbo Chevy V8. The new engine produces less power at 750hp, but it has more torque. Loveland claims it has more usable power than the previous car.
The addition of the Chevy V8 also takes the car one more step away from being an NSX. The only remaining original components are the subframes and suspension.
The look of the car has also been heavily reworked. While last year's car still vaguely resembled an NSX but with the addition of two massive wings. The new car takes things even further with an even more purposeful front end and a huge rear wing.
Lovefab has not completely given up on the original NSX powerplant entirely. It now offers it as a complete kit for $16,499.99 (€12,878).
