Lexus Preps IS F CCS-R to Race Up Pikes Peak in July

called the CCS-R. 

The car is based on the standard IS F chassis with 693lbs cut away for a total curb weight of 3,087lbs. Power is also exactly the same as the stock IS F with a 5.0l V8 with 416hp and 371lb-ft. The transmission is also the same with an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The exhaust has been replaced for a lighter racing exhaust. 

Even if it is basically stock, the IS F CCS-R looks cool. It has been painted Orange Mica with nude carbon fiber on the hood, door handles, front fenders, front spoiler and rear spoiler. The windows have been replaced with polycarbonate and the doors are also lighter.

On the interior, Lexus fitted a carbon fiber dashboard, center console and door panels. It also has a racing seat with six-point harnesses. The power windows, door locks, rear seats and roof lining have all been removed.

The wheels are smaller in diameter but wider in width. On the race car, they are 18in in diameter mounted to 245mm wide tires in the front and 18in in the rear with 255mm wide tires. The road car wides on 19in wheels with skinnier tires. 

The brakes are replaced with racing units with functional brake cooling in the front fender. 

The suspension has been modified with adjustable front control arms to adjust camber and a reinforced race suspension. 

For better reliability, Lexus has fitted an extra engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler, differential oil cooler and mechanical limited-slip differential. For safety it has a 120l racing fuel cell, air jack, fire extinguisher and data logger.
