Jaguar renews F-Type range for 2015

Jaguar unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show the renewed F-Type for 2015. Consisting of 14 versions the new range includes the debuts of all-wheel drive variants of the coupe and convertible models, as well as versions with manual transmission.

Manual gearbox

The new Jaguar Quickshift manual gearbox, developed in partnership with ZF, is the first to be used by the British brand since the E-Type. The six-speed transmission will only be used with the supercharged V6 engine and forced a redesign of the area of the center console to give the driver the greatest arm movement possible.

The manual six-speed Quickshift transmission will be used in the F-Type V6 Supercharged versions with 340 and 380hp.

S and R versions with AWD

Another big news is the introduction of the AWD system on the S and R versions in both coupe and convertible models.

The top version F-Type R AWD Coupe maintains the same 550hp but saw its acceleration from 0 to 100km/h improve by 0.1s, to 4,1s. Top speed remains at 300km/h. The introduction of the convertible version of the F-Type R happens for the first time and despite the increase in weight due to the folding roof it can reach 100km/h in the same 4.1 seconds than the coupe version.

Other new features

Another premiere of the range for 2015 is the introduction of an electric power steering system. According to Jaguar this system is better than the replaced hydraulic one and achieves a reduction of CO2 emissions of 4g/km.

The torque vectoring system will be standardly fitted in the F-Type. Thanks to this technology, Jaguar will be able to improve the agility of the vehicle by reducing the power of a wheel in the event of loss of traction.

Besides, it is very possible that Jaguar will be launching a new version of the F-Type with a high-performance version of a four cylinder engine from the new Ingenium family.
