sales. The first six months of production are already spoken for. While Jaguar has not given official sales numbers, that works out to about 6,000 orders so far.

"Half of the first year's production of the F-Type is already sold. Sports cars have a global annual volume of about 75,000 units and a market share of 0.1 percent but the F-Type's boost to our brand's image will be phenomenal," said Jaguar Brand Director Adrian Hallmark.

Jaguar expects the F-Type to account for between 15% and 20% of its 60,000 projected sales this year. That works out to between 8,000 and 12,000 F-Types for 2013. According to Jaguar's project manager, 90% of F-Type buyers are expected to be new to the brand.

Prices for the F-Type start at £58,520 in the UK, $69,000 in the United States and €73,400 in Germany, which are expected to be the car's major sales markets.
