Dodge introduces the new R/T lineup in Chicago

An entirely new R/T lineup has been presented on Wednesday by Dodge at the Chicago Auto Show. The Charger, Challenger, Journey, Durango or the Grand Caravan have been added with more power, performance and technology.

According to Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, Dodge Brand — Chrysler Group LLC “We’re going back to our roots, when Dodge R/T meant a higher level of dynamic capability. In addition to exterior design cues and sporty interiors, every Dodge R/T vehicle will have unique handling characteristics, high-tech, high-performing engines, special exhaust tuning, a sport-tuned suspension and performance tires that grip the road. These Dodge R/Ts have definitely earned their stripes.”

Charger R/T: unmistakable character

The exterior of Dodge’s flagship Charger R/T has been inspired on the classic second-generation Charger from the late 1960s. With its “split crosshair” face, four-door fastback coupe proportions, muscular bodyside scallops featuring a striking A-line across the doors and an all-new signature taillamp design that incorporates 164 illuminating LEDs, the new Charger R/T keeps its unmistakable character.

The new Charger R/T is powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with four-cylinder mode Fuel Saver Technology. It boasts 370 hp and reaches the 60 mph mark in less than 6 seconds.

Durango R/T: performance and dynamics

On the Durango R/T Dodge worked on the driving dynamics, offering it an independent suspension on all four corners combined with nearly 50/50 weight distribution and 25 percent stiffer platform.

In terms of looks, the Dodge Durango R/T features a unique fascia with fog lamps, a body-color grille surround with black texture and xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps.

The 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine with fuel-saver mode and variable-valve timing is placed under the Durango R/T’s bonnet, delivering 360 horsepower and torque of 520 Nm at 4,250 rpm.

Dodge Grand Caravan R/T: the “man van”

Known as the “man van” within the company, the Dodge Grand Caravan R/T has been enhanced for 2011, giving an extra interest to family transportation.

The Grand Caravan R/T is powered by an all-new powertrain: the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. This powertrain is fitted with a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transaxle, offering the most powerful car in its class with 283 hp and torque of 353 Nm.

Visually, the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T features a “dipped” body-color grille, body-color side moldings and exclusive 17-inch wheels.

Dodge Journey R/T

Also getting the Dodge R/T badge for 2011 is the Journey model. Besides the more powerful engine, the Journey R/T has received a re-engineered suspension geometry, premium tires and redesigned steering system, handing the performance model a better response and feel of the road.

Like the Grand Caravan R/T, the Journey R/T is also powered by the new 283 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine mated to a six-speed transmission. It is available with front- or all-wheel drive and can seat five or seven passengers.

Dodge Challenger R/T: handling, performance and the looks

Muscle-car enthusiasts may find on the new 2011 Dodge Challenger R/T what they are looking for: improved handling, the performance thanks to the HEMI® V-8 engine and the athletic style.
