. The car would use similar technology but a less extreme body than Volkswagen's car. The sub-2.0-liter Audi will not be into production until 2017 at the earliest.

The Audi version would not be quite as efficient as the XL1 with less than 2.0l/100km fuel economy, compared to the 0.9l/100km from the XL1. Audi has still not given the car a green light and are still discussing body designs for the car. It may use the platform for the next generation A1A1Audi A1Germany, 2010 > present180 versions

The plan for the powertrain is a plug-in hybrid with either a three-cylinder diesel or three-cylinder petrol engine. It would have a combined system output of around 99hp.

Volkswagen has said that it plans to develop the XL1's powertrains to be used in other models. It could use the car's hybrid powertrain on other models to improve efficiency. The A3 hybridA3 e-tronAudi A3 e-tronGermany, 2011 > 20114 photos
