The MY2011 Alfa Romeo MiTo went on sale in Italy and major European markets this week.
First shown at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the new MiTo is available in four trim levels entitled Progression, Distinctive, "Super" and Quadrifoglio Verde. Along with a new range of colours and seat upholstery, six choices of engine are also offered on the MiTo which Alfa Romeo say “emphasizes the dual personality of "the most compact sports car ever."
All of the six new engine choices for the MY2011 MiTo – four petrol and two diesels – are Euro 5 compliant and are fitted with a Start & Stop system as standard. Power outputs for the petrol engines begin with the 78 bhp 1.4 litre, and increase with the choice of three Multiair engines; a 105 hp, 135 hp and 170 hp, the latter two being turbocharged and all of which are 1.4 litres. The two turbo diesel engines are a 95 bhp 1.3 JTDM-2 and a 120 bhp 1.6 litre JTDM which both now feature extended service intervals of 35,000 km.
Performance figures for the most powerful engine of the range - the 170 hp 1.4 - are a hp-to-litre ratio of 124 hp/litre which allows the MiTo to accelerate to 100 km/h in just over seven seconds. Emissions are 139 gr/l of CO2, with fuel consumption being 4.8 l/100 km in the extra-urban cycle.
A new technological feature on the MY2011 MiTo is the removable "Blue & Me-TomTom" info-tainment system. More than just an ordinary satnav, the 4.3" screen can also be used to manage phone and media functions and also features a “Fuel Efficiency” mode. This function records real-time data on the users driving style and offers hints on how to save fuel and reduce environmental impact.
Prices for the new MiTo range from between €15,500 for the Progression model up to €22,550 for the top-of-the-line Distinctive Sport Pack model.
