The American car company General Motors, often shortened to GM, is a worldwide known car brand based in Detroit, state of Michigan. GM’s headquarters are placed at Detroit’s Renaissance Center. General Motors produces automobiles and engines that are sold worldwide.
In 2008 GM was proclaimed the second largest car producer in the world in terms of sales. Most recently (2009), the American carmaker hit bankruptcy and was reorganized, being currently 61% owned by the Treasury of the United States.
