The new F-Type was announced during the 2012 New York Auto Show. Jaguar confirmed that this small sports car based on the C-X16 concept will be on sale by mid-2013.
The F-Type will be a two-seat sports car with all aluminum construction. Jaguar is being stingy about power information but it said that the F-Type will be available with "a range of petrol engines (...) including a new powerplant family." The C-X16 used a hybrid system that provided extra on-demand power. Perhaps that is the new powerplant family.
"The engineering development of the F-TYPE has focused on delivering a heightened level of dynamic driving reward. We are excited about our progress to date and are looking forward to soon being able to demonstrate what we have achieved," said Jaguar's Vehicle Line Director Ian Hoban.
The car was designed by Ian Callum.
