coupes from 1969 to 1975, and Silverstone Auctions is selling one of them at its auction on November 15 and 16.

The cars were meant to celebrate Maserati’s back-to-back wins of the Indy 500 in 1939 and 1940. The car was first shown at the 1968 Turin Motor Show with a body by VignaleVignaleVignaleItaly, 1948 > 19743 models

While the car was designed as a coupe, it offered four full seats, and over the five years of production, the Indy America was offered a 4.2-liter with 260hp, 4.7-liter with 290hp and 4.9-liter V8 with 320hp.

The auction will be for a 1972 4.7-liter example with a five-speed transmission that was originally sold in the UK in right-hand drive. It is one of 246 Indy America’s produced that year and about 1,100 made overall. It has just received a restoration that took the car down to bare metal and repainted in Rosso Corsa, and the interior has been retrimmed in ivory leather. It also received new brakes and a rebuilt rear differential.

Silverstone Auctions believes that it will sell for between £42,000 and £50,000.
