Mercedes-Benz Sales Reach New Record at over 1.4 Million

Mercedes-Benz Cars sold over 1.56 million in 2013

The CLA Class has been a huge success and half of its buyers come from other brands

Cars sold 1,562,472 cars in 2013, up 9.7% from 2012. The Mercedes-Benz brand alone set a new sales record of 1,461,680 cars, up 10.7%, and Smart sold 100,792, down 2.8%.

“We look back on the best year of the Mercedes-Benz brand and have surpassed sales of the previous year by over ten per cent. Our growth strategy is working,” said Daimler CEO, Dieter Zetsche.

Regionally, Mercedes Benz Cars sold 660,566 cars in Europe, up 5.9%. North American sales grew by 13.3% to 352,778, and of those sales 312,534 cars were sold in the United States, up 14%.

In the Asia-Pacific region, sales grew 15.9% to 390,835 cars. Of those, 218,045 were sold in China, up 11.1%.

Mercedes-Benz was the bestselling premium brand in Germany, the US, Japan and Australia.
