Presented in 1995 to replace the Acura Vigor, the TL is a midsize sport sedan produced by Acura. The model was rebadged and sold in the Japanese market between 1996 and 2000 as Honda Inspire and from 1996 to 2004 as the Honda Saber. Before being overtaken by the MDX in 2007, the TL was Acura's best selling model, and became the second second best-selling sedan in the United States of America behind the BMW 3 Series.

Four generations of the Acura TL have been produced since 1996. The latest generation was presented in 2008 and is not marketed in Japan
